The number of pensioners has decreased in Ukraine: the minister announced the actual figures

As the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Ulyutin said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the number of pension recipients has decreased by 600,000 people.

“The number of pension recipients has decreased by about 600,000 people, if we are talking about the period from 2022 or 2023. Previously, their number also decreased,” the minister noted.

According to him, the decrease in the number of pensioners is a natural process. He noted that now in Ukraine there are roughly one to one working and retired people. Previously, there were more pensioners than working people.

In addition, the minister emphasized that the Ukrainian government pays pensions to pensioners, even if they leave, but have passed verification and confirmed that they are alive.

Pensions in Ukraine – the main news On January 25, it became known that the government is working on a pension reform that should ensure fairer payments. Yes, Ukrainians will be able to receive three pensions instead of one.

Valeriya Koval, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, said that in Ukraine they want to introduce fully proactive pension and social services so that citizens receive payments automatically, without collecting references and visiting institutions.
