After many months of work, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant again received back-up power supply. This time, for the first time in six months, the facility was connected to the network via a 330 kV line.
This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the social network Kh.
The 330 kV “Ferosplavna-1” transmission line was re-connected to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant after the repair was completed. Thus, for the first time in six months, it was possible to provide the object with backup power supply.
According to the IAEA, the restoration of this line became a significant event in the context of ensuring the stability of the energy supply of the largest nuclear plant of Ukraine.
The head of the organization, Rafael Grossi, emphasized that this is a “decisive step for nuclear safety.” He noted that after the restoration of the 750 kV Dniprovska line last month, the new connection significantly increased the stability of the station’s power supply.
“Along with the restoration of the 750 kV Dniprovska line, this is a good day for nuclear safety,” the IAEA said in a statement.
Earlier, Ukrainian energy workers once again worked on the restoration of power supply lines that supply the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Currently, repair works are ongoing, which are already 42 in number after the capture of the station by the Russian occupiers.
