The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reacted to the warning of the US Embassy in Kyiv about a possible mass shelling on November 20.

“The Russians have been stockpiling missiles for a series of shelling of Ukraine for months. This applies to the Kh-101 missiles, which they continue to manufacture, as well as “calibers” and ballistics. Aircraft and stocks of missiles at strategic aviation airfields, as well as in warehouses, are ready for shelling in the Russian Federation. Also ships. It was reported earlier. Accordingly, this should be understood and always kept in mind, structures should consider security measures, people should respond to alarms,” said Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC.

Earlier, the US Embassy in Ukraine reported that it had received “specific information” about a possible significant air attack on November 20.

“As a precaution, the embassy will be closed… The embassy recommends that US citizens be prepared to take shelter immediately in the event of an airstrike alert,” said the message posted on the diplomatic mission’s website.

The embassy did not give any details about the possible strike.

The message from the embassy came after Russian President Vladimir Putin updated Russia’s nuclear doctrine on November 19, the 1,000th day of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The updated doctrine provides that the basis for a nuclear attack can be “aggression against the Russian Federation and its allies by any non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear state”, as well as a massive air attack by non-nuclear means, in particular drones.

The Pentagon said that they do not see any signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
