Belinda, who was seeded as the first seed, was scheduled to start her round of 16 match against Sonai Kartal (Great Britain, WTA 61) today, February 4.
However, Bencic withdrew from the competition due to illness. She was replaced by lucky loser Renata Sarasua (Mexico, WTA 92), who lost to Kartal with a score of 0:6, 3:6.
Sonay started in Abu Dhabi with a victory over Christina Buksha. Her next opponent will be Sarah Beilek.
