According to the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, the imperial ambitions of the Russian dictator go beyond Ukraine.

“We see that Russia continues to increase its military potential: it produces more weapons, recruits more soldiers. And we also see that this happens not only for the purpose of aggression against Ukraine, but also for preparing for a potential conflict outside Ukraine. We also see that they have replenished their reserves.”
According to him, all these actions of the Russian Federation cause “great concern.” Breccelmans stressed that the imperial ambitions of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin go beyond Ukraine, because he wants to restore the influence of the Soviet Empire in the Baltic States and in other territories.
“So I think it is a very serious threat, which is why I fully support NATO military plans, which are being developed not only to protect the Alliance, but also to restrain Russia,” the minister added.
He also hoped that a truce between the parties to the conflict could be possible. The head of the Netherlands Ministry of Defense considers it good that Ukraine has shown its readiness for dialogue, negotiations and ceasefire.
“But, of course, we see the lack of such readiness from Russia. And I think we need to try to change the main dynamics. I often talk about it to my colleagues. Because as long as Putin thinks that, while continuing the war, he will be in a better position, I think, he will continue to fight and will not be leaning. It is absurd, if you look at the territory that he thus acquires.
According to him, NATO countries should increase pressure on the Russian Federation in order to weaken its position. It is also necessary to continue to support Ukraine to make it even stronger.
“If it succeeds, then, I think, Putin will be forced to sit at the negotiating table and compromise,” Breccelmans summed up.
Negotiations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation are the latest newsEarlier, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova made a statement about the third round of negotiations with Ukraine. According to her, the Russian delegation is ready to come to Istanbul after June 22 to “continue negotiations with the Ukrainian side.”
Zakharova added that the specific periods of the third round of negotiations are currently being discussed, so they will soon become known. In Ukraine, such a statement has not yet been commented.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that the end of the war in Ukraine should dictate the victim, not the aggressor. He stressed that the Russian Federation should be forced to a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine.
“This is the position of Ukraine, which we clearly emphasize from the first day of this terrible unprovoked war, where Ukraine is a victim, and Russia is an aggressor. Ukraine wants peace above all, but not peace at any cost. Therefore, we make every effort to ensure that this war ended in a fair peace,” Stefanchuk added.
