The NATO defense alliance is considering establishing a base in Finland

NATO and Finland have expressed mutual interest in creating a base for the Alliance’s intelligence forces, from which large unmanned reconnaissance drones could operate. the most likely location for the new base is Pirkkala.

The new NATO base should be designed to accommodate top-level reconnaissance equipment, such as the RQ-4D reconnaissance aircraft.

According to Yle, Finland has already offered NATO a base. As an alternative, the Finnish Air Force has four bases, of which Pirkkala is the most likely location. If the new base is located in Pirkkala, NATO will build a powerful military infrastructure there, Alliance sources told Finnish media.
