From January 1, 2026, a new procedure for the payment of state aid for the birth of a child will be introduced in Ukraine. As the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Lyudmila Shemelynets reported, 50 thousand hryvnias will be a one-time payment, this amount will apply only to those mothers who gave birth after January 1, 2026.

“If we are talking about all other types of payments, then they will be guaranteed for those children who, as of January 1, 2026, have not yet turned one year old,” said Shemelynets, quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy.

At the same time, according to her, parents of children who, as of January 1, 2026, have not turned one year old, have the right to receive assistance in the amount of 7 thousand hryvnias until the child reaches one year of age.

The other day, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as a whole adopted draft law No. 13532 on a significant increase in “child” benefits, in particular, the Rada approved an increase in the monthly payment to 7,000 hryvnias (care for up to 1 year).

Previously, assistance for the birth of the first and each subsequent child was assigned in the amount of 41,280 hryvnias: a one-time payment was in the amount of 10,320 hryvnias, the rest of the amount of assistance was paid over the next 36 months in equal parts (i.e., 860 hryvnias monthly).
