On the eve of the winter season, Ukrainians can apply for financial assistance under the UN program. In particular, persons without the right to a pension, adults and children with disabilities can apply for assistance.
This is reported by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
Assistance is provided to persons who meet the following criteria:
- Live in the territories of active or potential hostilities (according to Order No. 309).
- They receive social assistance of less than UAH 3,250 per month.
- Internally displaced persons (IDPs) do not receive housing assistance.
- Do not receive international financial support from other organizations during the provision of assistance.
The amount of financial support is the difference between UAH 3,250 and the amount of social assistance that a person already receives from the state.
For example, if the amount of existing aid is UAH 2,700, the UN WFP will pay an additional UAH 550.
The program is designed for 6 months, and the total amount allocated by the UN WFP for this initiative exceeds UAH 284 million.
Funds are provided by bank transfer or delivery via Ukrposhta. Bank transfers have already started, and payments through Ukrposhta are planned to start within a few weeks.
From February to April 2024, the project was expanded to include persons with disabilities since childhood and children with disabilities, covering more than 750 thousand Ukrainians.
Today, more than 400,000 pensioners receive monthly assistance from the program. The program is financed by contributions from Germany, the European Union, the USA, France and private donors.
