The meeting of self-proclaimed president Oleksandr Lukashenko with the leader of the so-called “DNR” Denys Pushylin will have consequences for Ukraine’s relations with Belarus.

This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns Lukashenka’s meeting with a representative of the Russian authorities in the occupied part of the Donetsk region.

“This meeting is another confirmation that the position of the current authorities of Belarus regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is dictated solely by the instructions of the Kremlin and has nothing to do with international law or the international obligations of the Republic of Belarus,” the statement said.

Ukraine also rejects Lukashenko’s hypocritical rhetoric about the “principles” of cooperation with the temporarily occupied territories and considers it support for the war.

“We call on the Belarusian people to realize that against the background of repeated contacts of Belarusian officials with Russian puppets from our temporarily occupied territories, Oleksandr Lukashenko’s constant statements about his “warm feelings” for the “brotherly Ukrainian people” sound like mockery, and his practical actions destroy the principles on which relations between the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples were being built,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

These unfriendly actions cannot remain without a proper response and will have negative consequences for Ukrainian-Belarusian relations, the ministry added.

It should be noted that earlier this week Lukashenko received Pushylin in his administration after a meeting with the leadership of the election bodies of the CIS countries. As the Belarusian dictator stated, he did not refuse to cooperate with the occupation authorities in Donetsk.

Earlier, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, said that he allegedly reached an agreement with the Ukrainian side not to disclose in the media the facts of drone flights on the territory of Belarus.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that Belarus continues to be a source of risks for Europe and that Lithuania will demand stronger sanctions against Minsk on par with Russia.
