The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is taking a number of political and diplomatic steps in connection with Russia’s use of a new type of weapon against Ukraine, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhy, said at a briefing on November 21, Radio Liberty correspondent reports.

According to him, the department has already contacted the partners with information about what happened and what is known at this moment.

“We will use UN mechanisms, NATO mechanisms and plan to involve OSCE mechanisms to respond to this event. That is, there will be formal appeals and notes. And there will be convocations of separate formats in order to wake up the world and draw attention to what happened,” said George the Quiet.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added that expert conclusions are now awaited, which will determine the exact type of the new missile that Russia launched over Ukraine. According to him, it is currently known that the missile used by the Russian Federation on Thursday morning had all the characteristics of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

“If the use of an intercontinental ballistic missile is confirmed, we believe that it will be possible to state that Putin’s Russia has degraded to the status of North Korea,” Tykhi said.

Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling on the world community to immediately respond to Russia’s use of a new type of weaponry, pointing out the inadmissibility of such actions.

“We call on the world community and every leader, every state that respects the UN Charter, to react immediately to Russia’s use of a new type of weaponry, a clear increase in the level of weaponry that is being used against Ukraine. That is, do not wait for detailed expert opinions. The fact of using a new type of weapon is already there. We urge you to react and show Russia the inadmissibility of such actions,” explained the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also calls on partners to warn Russia about the consequences of further use of such missiles. They emphasize that Russia “needs to be restrained, and not just engaged in pacification.”

The spokesman of the foreign policy department also emphasized that now Ukraine needs air defense systems capable of shooting down a new type of Russian missiles.

“We need concrete actions from partners and allies to protect human lives. It is about strengthening the air shield over Ukraine, providing Ukraine with complexes capable of intercepting this type of missiles. There are such complexes in the world, and accordingly it is time to hand them over to Ukraine,” Tykhy emphasized.

On Thursday morning, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Russian troops attacked the Dnipro with various types of missiles, including launching an intercontinental ballistic missile. No details were provided regarding the use of an intercontinental ballistic missile by Russian troops in the Armed Forces. There are no reactions to this from the West, as well as official messages from Russia.

During a press briefing on November 21, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, was called and asked not to comment on the statements about the intercontinental ballistic missile of the Russian Federation launched over Ukraine.

The Reuters agency, citing two unnamed Western officials, reports that preliminary data do not confirm Russia’s use of an intercontinental ballistic missile. However, the publication’s sources did not rule out that the conclusions may change in the future.

According to the local authorities, an industrial enterprise was damaged in Dnipro as a result of the strike, two fires also broke out in the city, and two people were injured.

The day before, the US Embassy in Ukraine reported that it had received “specific information” about a possible significant Russian air attack on November 20. As a precaution, the embassy was closed. Subsequently, the diplomatic missions of Spain, Italy and Greece also announced the closure for visitors on November 20.

Against this background, social networks spread information about the possibility of launching an attack on Ukraine with the RS-26 “Rubezh” ballistic missile. The launches were supposed to be from a training ground in the Astrakhan region. On November 20, such launches were not reported.
