Grynchuk said that in the case of proof of guilt, all persons involved in embezzlement at “Energoatom” will be brought to justice / photo by the Ministry of EnergyThe Ministry of Energy reacted to the large-scale corruption scandal in the energy sector, the details of which were revealed today, November 10, by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
According to the correspondent of UNIAN, the Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk stated during the briefing that in case of proof of guilt, all persons involved in embezzlement at “Energoatom” will be brought to justice.
“Any events that take place at Energoatom, as a key company that provides more than 50% of the necessary generation for the power system, are under everyone’s attention. And for me, as a minister, it is very important that investigative actions take place transparently and openly,” she said.
The minister also emphasized that measures to protect energy facilities will continue both in this heating season and in the next one, because the number of such facilities is measured in thousands.
“At first, the most important, key ones were identified – protection was completed for them, then this list is constantly updated, and work on protection is constantly being carried out. Plus, we have to react to the change in the enemy’s tactics – it really changes, and new and new objects are constantly being added – not only energy, but also other infrastructure, the railway. That’s why a lot of work has been done here, and it continues,” she said.
The scandal surrounding “Energoatom” – what is knownOn November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office launched a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector.
NABU reported that the members of the criminal organization built a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic enterprises of the state sector, in particular JSC NAEK Energoatom.
The corruption scheme was called “Barrier”. As reported by NABU, the main activity of the criminal organization was the systematic obtaining of illegal benefits from the counterparties of “Energoatom” in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of the contracts.
The function of legalization of illegally obtained funds from the schemes carried out relied on a separate office of the criminal organization, located in the center of Kyiv. The premises belonged to the family of former People’s Deputy and now Russian Senator Andriy Derkach, accused by NABU and SAP in other criminal proceedings.
