“Many scientists who voluntarily went to the front have died. Even more – have left the country or changed their profession,” Kurbatov said about the situation.

He noted that if we count all-researchers, teachers, scientific and pedagogical workers, there are about 80 thousand in Ukraine.

“Human loss of approximately 20%. These are scientists who either left in other countries or changed their profession. But 80% of researchers remain in the country, They work in the war, “Kuratov said, adding that in frontline and border regions, about 30% of research infrastructure is damaged or destroyed.

Despite this, according to him, research is still conducted, science is adapting.

“We are working on the creation of new research centers, even underground laboratories, we develop collective use centers of scientific equipment,” – said the Ministry of Education, but said that despite the fact that science is adapting, new challenges are constantly emerging.

Outflow of students abroad On July 1, it became known that students in Ukraine had decreased. In particular, according to NGL.Media, the number of students in Ukraine has reached the lowest mark in the last 30 years. At the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, there were 3,74 million of them, and the tendency to reduce the number of children and young people in Ukraine will only grow.
