The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced a UAV attack on Crimea, Telegram channels reported on the work of air defense systems

In the evening of January 23, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced an attack on the occupied Crimea by four unmanned aerial vehicles, the RFE/RL project Krym.Realii reports.

According to the Russian agency, the air defense forces of the Russian Federation allegedly shot down all the drones. The Ministry of Defense of Russia did not provide confirmation of their statements.

Before that, Russian monitoring telegram channels wrote about the threat of drone attacks in Yevpatoria, Saksky District, Novofedorivka, Kacha, and Sevastopol.

The sounds of air defense operations in Novofedorivka, Saky and Krasnoperekop district were also reported by subscribers of the Crimean Wind Telegram channel, but no details were given.

Currently, it is not possible to independently verify the voiced information using alternative sources. The Ukrainian side did not comment on these reports.

Starting from August 2022, the sounds of explosions can be heard in Crimea almost every day. The Russian authorities explain this by shooting at “Ukrainian drones”, “air defense work” or exercises of the Russian military. Serhii Aksyonov, the leader of the Russian-controlled Crimea, called drones the “main threat” to Crimea.

In most cases, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation or the Russian authorities do not confirm hits on military objects, even if this information can be verified.
