The Ministry of Defense of Norway has established the post of military attache in Kyiv, said the country’s Minister of Defense Björn Arild Gram.

It is known that the new official at the embassy in Ukraine “will be responsible for communication and cooperation between Norwegian and Ukrainian scientists and industry in the field of defense innovation and industrial development.”

“In order to meet the enormous needs of Ukraine, significant investments and the participation of the private sector are necessary. Norwegian companies want to share knowledge, experience and solutions in both the short and long term. The Ukrainian side is also asking for this,” the minister said.

Gram also emphasized that “in the long term, setting up production in Ukraine may become relevant for Norwegian companies.”

In February 2023, the Norwegian parliament approved a multi-year support program for Ukraine worth NOK 75 billion ($7.3 billion).

NOK 75 billion will be provided over the five-year period 2023-2027, i.e. NOK 15 billion annually, plus an additional one-year aid in 2023 of NOK 5 million to developing countries affected by the global effects of war.

On September 20, it became known that Norway will extend its aid package to Ukraine until 2030, increasing the total amount to 135 billion kroner, Prime Minister Jonas Haar Støre said.
