The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has launched an official account on the new Threads social network. The first posts and comments of the department immediately attracted the attention of users and caused a lively discussion.
The main idea behind the appearance of the MOU in Threads is to be closer to people, quickly convey important information and clearly communicate about the life of the army. “We joined in order to better understand the problems of the army, to convey information in a timely manner in understandable words, and to be in the context of events,” the department explained.
At first, the account commented on user posts, joked and interacted with the audience. However, one of the comments caused a wave of criticism, including among the military.
Therefore, the Ministry of Defense admitted: “Somewhere they missed with jokes, somewhere, on the contrary, they clearly hit the target.” They apologized for the botched joke and promised to use the attention they received “wisely”. Journalist and military man Vladyslav Dunaenko, who runs the account, talked about his combat path and asked users for support. “I apologize for the bad joke and hope that I will be able to communicate usefully on behalf of the Ministry of Defense,” Dunayenko said.
Now the agency is actively planning to use Threads to not only inform about events on the front, but also to maintain a dialogue with citizens and answer questions.
