Such a statement was made by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal. As a result of one of the most massive attacks of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian energy, generation facilities and trunk and distribution networks in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Vinnytsia and other regions were damaged. The situation in Ukraine’s energy system is complex.
Shmyhal emphasized that the capital CHP-4 was focused exclusively on the production of heat for people. Attacks on the thermal power plant are another war crime of Russia.
“We have outlined a plan for restoration work. Let’s be honest, it will take a lot of time. The Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Development, the city, utilities and private enterprises are providing all the help with equipment and specialists,” the minister added.
He instructed to analyze all possible objects of communal, private and state property in areas where people whose houses were left without heat supply could temporarily stay. Urgent measures to stabilize the system were also discussed.
“Currently, repair crews and equipment are being redistributed, and starting tomorrow, the forces of Ukrtransgaz will be involved in the restoration of heat mains. We are also working out options for connecting backup heat supply for buildings that are in the zone of long-term blackouts,” said the head of the Ministry of Energy.
Attack of the Russian Federation on the Darnytsia thermal power stationDuring the attack of the Russian occupiers on Kyiv, an important CHP plant, which supplied heat to houses in two districts of the capital, was significantly damaged. As a result, utility workers had to drain water from pipes in more than 1,000 houses.
Later it became known that the CHP-4 of the city of Kyiv temporarily stopped its work due to the attack of the Russian occupation forces. Specialists conduct an inspection of the facility and work out methods of restoring its operation. The shelling took place just as the temperature dropped to a low of -25°C.
