Advisor to the Presidential Office, the Bring Kids Back UA Operations Director Dariya Zarivna and the head of the Center for Clearing Misinformation Andriy Kovalenko participated in the presentation of the analytical report “Militarization of Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”.
Dariya Zarivna stressed that the militarization of Ukrainian children is part of the purposeful state policy of Russia, which is enshrined at the legislative level and is funded by the Kremlin.
“Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories are victims of ideological processing, losing identity and childhood. These are not separate initiatives, but a large -scale policy based on the historical practices of the Russian Empire and the USSR. Therefore, the issue of the return of children deported by Russia is extremely important for President Vladimir Zelensky, ”she said.
The head of the Center for Clearing Misinformation Andriy Kovalenko emphasized that it is important to counteract the crimes of militarization of Ukrainian children.
“They are already trying to use children in activity against our country, in particular to find and recruit adolescents in Ukraine -controlled territory for sabotage and intelligence. Our task is to find those who do this, collect evidence and work with other structures on punishment and sanctions, ”he said.
The report was prepared by the opposition center and Bring Kids Back UA team.
It will become the basis for new international advocacy campaigns aimed at terminating the violations of children and returning them to Ukraine, and will also be represented by members of the International Working Group Bring Kids Back UA, co -headed by Presidential Office Andriy Yermak and Director Baroness Helen Kennedy. The report contains an analysis of the methods used by Russia to involve children in military training, formation of loyalty to the Russian army and eradicating Ukrainian identity. Particular attention is the role of organizations, in particular “Junarmia”, which is the central instrument of militarization of Ukrainian children.
