A ten-year-old boy died of hunger in Vinnytsia. His mother, a person with a disability of group III, was unable to take care of her son on her own after the death of her parents. Nataliya Todorchuk, head of the village of Serebria in the Mogilev-Podilskyi community, said that the woman lived in her own world and did not know how to organize her life and take care of her child.
“While the parents were alive, everything was fine: they looked after her and the child, but in May her mother died, and such fluctuations began. She lives in her own world, this is the way of life. Her parents did not teach her how to run a household or manage money. She didn’t know how to do it,” said the old woman.
According to Todorchuk, the woman was listened to at social services commissions, and the family doctor often visited her before mobilization. Laboratory technicians took tests from the woman and the child, and the boy himself was recently in a hospital in Vinnytsia.
The boy had a disability, because of which he could not walk well and had not attended school since the beginning of the school year. “Only recently, she was given a wheelchair in the labor department, and she promised us that she would take the child to school, but she did not do it,” added the head woman.
Nataliya Todorchuk noted that the mother did not abuse alcohol and did not use prohibited substances. However, due to limited opportunities, she could not provide proper care for her son, which led to the tragedy.
