Details: On Monday morning, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Haar Støre confirmed that Trump had indeed sent him the letter previously circulated in the media, in which he linked the encroachment on Greenland to the fact that he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

“This is a message I received from President Trump last night. It was in response to a short message from me to President Trump earlier that day – on behalf of myself and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb,” Støre said.
The media also published the text of the first letter from the leaders of Norway and Finland. In it, Støre and Stubb, in a friendly tone, call for steps to reduce tensions and offer a telephone conversation.
“Dear President, dear Donald! We are writing about transatlantic ties, about Greenland, Gaza, Ukraine and your announcement yesterday about tariffs.
You know our position on these issues. But we are convinced that we should all work to calm the situation and de-escalate – there is a lot going on around us where we need to stick together. We suggest a phone call later that day – either with both of us at the same time or separately – let us know which format you prefer. Best wishes, Alex and Jonas.”
In Trump’s response letter to Støre, previously leaked to the media, Trump said he “no longer feels obligated to think exclusively about peace” in light of his failure to win the Nobel Prize, and that he wants “total control” of Greenland.
What preceded: On January 17, Trump announced the introduction of tariffs against a number of European countries that do not agree with his claims to Greenland.
