Scheduled power outages depending on weather conditions and temperature may be introduced in Ukraine this winter, Yuriy Boyko, advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, said.

He noted that at temperatures down to -5 degrees, the winter can pass without significant restrictions or with minimal restrictions, if we do not take into account possible shelling of the energy infrastructure.

However, if temperatures drop to -10 degrees or below and persist for several days in a row, power shortages may occur. And even with increased imports to 2,100 megawatts, this volume may not be enough to fully meet needs.

In cases of severe frosts, shutdown schedules can be introduced for one to three shifts, and three shifts — at very low temperatures. According to Boyk, the Ukrainian energy system is currently weather-dependent due to significant infrastructure damage, which increases the need to plan for such restrictions.

Boyko also mentioned Plan B, which provides for additional measures to support the energy system in crisis conditions. This plan was effective last winter and the current season, its measures remain similar.

Earlier, we wrote that DTEK energy workers restored electricity to more than 10,000 families in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions that were without electricity due to shelling.

We will also remind you that on the morning of October 31, Russia once again attacked Kyiv with drones. In the Podilsky district of the city, the fall of UAV wreckage was recorded, which damaged the power line.
