The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed draft law No. 11043, which improves the functions of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in the field of state regulation of financial services markets.

People’s deputy from the “Voice” parliamentary faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, reported this in Telegram.

The law significantly expands the powers of the NBU and simplifies the procedures for providing payment services by non-banking institutions, such as financial companies, pawnshops and credit unions. Now these institutions will be able to provide payment services based on the basic license, without the need to obtain an additional license.

The law also gives the NBU the right to set regulatory capital requirements for non-bank payment service providers. In addition, liability for violations in the field of payment services is increased: the maximum fine for payment service providers, including banks, is increased to 5% of the amount of transactions carried out with violations (instead of the previous UAH 170,000).

The law also expands the capabilities of the NBU to carry out inspections, allowing them to be carried out not only offline, but also online with remote access to the necessary documents and information.

Recently, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a general draft law on banning the use of palm oil in food products, in particular in baby food.

At the same time, palm oil is rising in price to the highest level in the last two years. The reason was high demand against the background of fears about a reduction in supply.
