The 15th innovative rehabilitation center for wounded soldiers has started work in Chernivtsi. Every year, more than 2,000 defenders of Ukraine will be able to receive high-quality and free rehabilitation services here.

Today, the center is the largest in the RECOVERY network, which Viktor and Olena Pinchuka founded to help the Security and Defense Forces.

The RECOVERY project is an example of a successful partnership between the private sector and the state, when philanthropists create innovative rehabilitation centers on the basis of state medical institutions. The new center is designed for 61 beds, which makes it the largest in the RECOVERY national network today. The state-of-the-art center is built on three floors of one of the key medical institutions in Bukovyna.

During a meeting with the military at the newly opened center, the founder of the RECOVERY project, Viktor Pinchuk, remarked:

— Do you know what I felt in this RECOVERY center on the 15th? How much it is necessary to do everything now so that our defenders realize: the state, society and the private sector value them, now they are literally our VIPs, because the most important for the state are those who are just now at the front, and those who goes to the front – and also added: – We do everything for the highest global standards, and there is hope that we will set them for everyone: the state, other philanthropists, foreign partners. That is, the standard will be all over the country.

The center was equipped according to world standards of inclusiveness and technology, providing the highest level of rehabilitation for our soldiers. The complex of simulators and devices covers the entire spectrum of possible functional disorders, in particular injuries resulting from mine and explosive injuries.

Physical rehabilitation rooms are equipped with virtual reality (VR) equipment that provides feedback to the patient. Such equipment contributes to the gamification of rehabilitation processes, which, in turn, increases the intensity of training and accelerates the recovery of patients.

Task-oriented exercises add motivation, and built-in analysis programs allow you to effectively monitor the patient’s condition and evaluate the results of rehabilitation.

In addition to VR technologies, the list of equipment equipped with the center includes bobat and massage systems, rehabilitation complexes for limbs, simulators for balance correction, joint mobilization and sling therapy.

Like other centers of the network, RECOVERY in Chernivtsi is arranged taking into account the requirements of inclusive premises: wide doorways, no thresholds, medical anti-slip flooring, handrails in the corridors, sanitary rooms for people in wheelchairs and showers with seats and handrails.

On the first floor of the rehabilitation center there are halls for physical rehabilitation (large and small), an occupational therapy hall, as well as offices for physiotherapy, laser therapy, assistive technologies, psychotherapy (group and individual) and a speech therapist. In addition, there are two massage rooms, staff rooms, inventory and pharmacy rooms.

The second and third floors are reserved for 22 rooms: 4 single rooms, 6 double rooms, 3 three-room rooms and 9 four-room rooms. Each ward is equipped with functional beds, inclusive bathrooms and comfortable furniture.

In addition, the floors are equipped with medical stations, dining rooms and treatment rooms, which ensure comfort and quality medical care for patients.

Chernivtsi OVA also joined the creation of the center in Chernivtsi, allocating funds from the regional budget, as well as territorial communities of the region. This made it possible to equip the roof, the entrance group according to accessibility standards and insulate the premises.

— Thanks to the work of a powerful multidisciplinary team and modern equipment, we expect not only a doubling of the possibilities of providing rehabilitation assistance, but also a high level of its provision. Today, it is extremely important that the military personnel who defend our country receive timely rehabilitation assistance, said Vitaliy Polataychuk, the head of the medical facility on which the RECOVERY center operates in Chernivtsi.

RECOVERY’s multidisciplinary teams consist of specialists in physical rehabilitation medicine, physical therapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists, assistants, speech and language therapists, and psychologists.

An individual rehabilitation plan is developed here for each injured person, and thanks to innovative equipment, patients receive high-quality and evidence-based rehabilitation care at the highest level.

RECOVERY is a national network of rehabilitation centers for wounded soldiers. Today, in addition to Chernivtsi, RECOVERY rehabilitation centers provide free services in Kyiv (two facilities), Lviv, Chernivtsi, Rivne, Lutsk, Vinnytsia, Cherkassy, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa (two facilities) and Dnipro Oblast (three facilities). In total, 18,000 patients have already received rehabilitation assistance in the centers of the national network.
