The interest of US President Donald Trump in rare land metals of Ukraine is a proposal to buy military assistance, the Presidential President Vladimir Putin President Dmitry Peskov told reporters on February 4.

“It is an offer to buy assistance, that is, not to continue to provide it on a free or other basis, namely to provide it on a commercial basis,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

He also said that the Kremlin could not add anything about Trump’s statement about “progress” on negotiations on the end of the war.

US President Donald Trump said on February 3 that he wants to agree with Ukraine about an agreement that will provide US access to rare earth minerals used in electronics. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities are ready for such an agreement. But Ukrainian officials have not yet commented this statement.

At the end of September 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy flew in the United States, where he presented his “Victory Plan of Ukraine” to both Democrats and Republicans, led by Donald Trump. As Financial Times journalists later found out, two out of five points of this plan in Kiev were developed directly for Trump. The first point: Kyiv proposes to replace the US military in Europe after the war. The second proposal: Ukraine will share with Western partners its most important natural resources.

“The richest country in Europe is in reserves of rare land elements – Ukraine. The cost of these rare earth elements is from two to seven trillion dollars. Ukraine is a growing breadstick for a developing world. 50% of all food supplied to Africa comes from Ukraine. It is extremely important that Ukrainians are ready to cooperate with us, not with the Russians. Therefore, in our interests, to make sure that Russia will not capture this territory, ”said Lindsey Graham, in an interview with Fox News, in an interview with Fox News.

Liquid earth metals are widely used in modern technologies: from electronics to space industry. They have unique physicochemical properties and cannot be simply replaced by other materials.

China is controlled by China. Therefore, other countries, including the US and the EU, are looking for new sources. Ukraine ranks fifth in Europe in its previously estimated lithium reserves.

About 820 square kilometers of lithium deposits have been found in Ukraine, which can contain up to 500,000 tons of sought after metal. Two of four deposits are currently occupied by Russia.
