The mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Gavin Gray began discussions with the representatives of the Ukrainian authorities on Monday in the context of their request for the launch of a new Enhanced Financing Program (EFF), according to the statement of the Permanent Representative of the Fund in Ukraine Prishila Tofano.

“Discussions will focus on the government’s economic policy goals, with an emphasis on both fiscal and monetary policies aimed at ensuring stability in conditions of continuous extremely high uncertainty, and on structural measures aimed at strengthening governance, fighting corruption and supporting economic growth,” Tofano said.

Ukraine has turned to the International Monetary Fund with a request for a new financing program, Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko said after a meeting with the IMF mission in early September.

According to the Ministry of Finance, as of February 2022, Ukraine received more than $145 billion in international financial aid, which made it possible to maintain macro-financial stability in the face of a full-scale war and guarantee all necessary social expenditures.
