The troops of the aggressor country Russia seized about 490 square kilometers of the territory of Ukraine in October. This was reported by the analytical portal DeepState on Wednesday, November 6.

According to the data, this is the largest indicator of the occupied territory since the beginning of the Russian counteroffensive, which has lasted for more than a year — since October 2023.

DeepState records an increase in the area of lost territories since July 2024. In September, Russian troops, according to analysts, seized 405 square meters. km

At the same time, experts note that the area of lost territories is not the only parameter for evaluating the military’s effectiveness.

You can plow a couple of brigades for the sake of one village, but have a small rate of loss of territory. A bloody lesson was given to us by the counteroffensive — 2023. The indicator is the capabilities of the Military Industry, the level of training of the mobilized, the degree of mechanization, the availability of opportunities for long-range strikes and, most importantly, the rational use of human potential. The latter, unfortunately, becomes a weak point for us,” DeepState points out.

At the end of October, the publication Welt reported that the Russian occupation forces captured 470 square kilometers in eastern Ukraine in a month. According to Estonian intelligence, in a week Russian troops occupied about 150 square kilometers in the territory of Donetsk region.

The Bloomberg agency also wrote on November 1 that Russia captured more territory in eastern Ukraine last week than in any period of 2024 — more than 200 square kilometers were added to the territory captured during the Russian summer offensive.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said on November 2 that Ukrainian defenders are currently holding back one of the most powerful enemy offensives from the start of a full-scale invasion.
