The minister also noted that, in addition to these sums for armaments, Spain provides other types of aid, for example, it accepted 250,000 Ukrainian refugees, including 40,000 children.
“Spain has a long-term commitment to the sovereignty and defense of Ukraine and will adhere to it as long as the war lasts,” said the head of the Spanish Foreign Ministry.
He emphasized that his country supports Ukraine’s accession to the EU and the creation of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian officials responsible for the crime of aggression.
Albarez expects that the left-wing Sumar party, the Socialist Party’s junior partner in the coalition government, which has traditionally opposed military spending, will not oppose providing military aid to Kyiv.
“The whole government is united by the desire for peace in Ukraine and Europe, the whole government is aware that there is a lot at stake in Ukraine: its sovereignty and freedom, as well as human rights, international law and international humanitarian law,” the Spanish Foreign Minister stressed.
Prehistory:
- On November 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi is visiting Spain.
- Commenting on his visit, Zelensky noted that Ukraine is working to ensure that the meeting with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez “brings agreements that will give us more strength.”
