As he stated in a comment to the “Censor” publication, investigators and operatives with the force support of soldiers of the special police unit arrived in a village in Cherkasy region to search a man who was suspected of committing a serious crime.
“On the spot, the police informed him about the initiation of investigative actions. The policemen were ready for any development of events. And including fire contact. They were special forces fighters who had combat experience. They talked to him calmly, taking into account his status as a war veteran. However, he barricaded himself and did not make contact. So the police invited his brothers to communicate. At this time – and these minutes became critically important – he imperceptibly left the territory of the homestead and set up an ambush near the road in a wooded area,” said Vyhivskyi.
The head of the National Police noted that the suspect shot policemen from an ambush 500 meters from his house. “At the same time, when our police special forces were already bleeding, but still alive, he shot them at close range. In the end, the shooter was eliminated,” he added.
“We respect all military personnel and veterans, of whom there are many among the police, but combat status is not an excuse to commit intentional murders, even with such brutality,” concluded the head of the National Police.
