The Khmelnytskyi police arrested the head of one of the medical and social examination centers for a bribe of over 200,000 hryvnias.
According to the National Police, the head of one of the medical and social examination centers in Mariupol, now based in Khmelnytskyi, together with other members of the commission, set up a corruption scheme to avoid mobilization in the Armed Forces.
Extras “helped” internally displaced persons of the male category to issue fictitious medical documents, which gave them the right to further receive disability groups. For such services, criminals demanded from 3,000 to 7,000 dollars.
In the course of measures to expose illegal activities, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Khmelnytskyi Region and investigators of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police documented the fact of extortion of $5,000 in illegal benefits (equivalent to 210,000 hryvnias).
On December 16, the police detained the head of the medical and social examination center after receiving the stipulated amount in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized more than $26,000, in addition to the amount of illegal profits.
The investigators informed the woman about the suspicion under ch. 3 Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved. Further measures are being taken to collect the evidence base to bring other persons involved in the criminal scheme to justice.
Meanwhile, in the Kirovohrad region, the head of the district medical and social expert commission was detained. The official demanded a bribe from a paralyzed soldier of the Armed Forces.
We will also remind that the head of the medical and social expert commission in the Mykolaiv region, which was exposed to numerous illegal assets, has not yet announced the suspicion. Law enforcement officers are still investigating.
