In September, the 33-year-old football player was detained by Ukrainian border guards while trying to cross the state border, and later mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:
“It’s normal to be afraid in war, if you’re not afraid, then it’s already wrong, there are some failures and you need to think about it, undergo some kind of treatment, because everyone wants to live and fear is present. If a person is afraid, there is nothing fatal about it, but he can perform other tasks in the rear, because that work also needs to be done.
In order to shoot on the front line, those cartridges must be fed. If Rudko is afraid, let him do something in the rear, help and join the defense of Ukraine. I cannot comment on the situation at the border itself, because, again, I do not have enough information to answer this question,” Savenko answered.
Rudko played in Ukraine for Dynamo, Shakhtar, Chornomorets, Hoverla, and Metalist. He has experience of performances in the championships of Cyprus and Poland. In July 2025, the goalkeeper left Odessa Chornomorets as a free agent.
