However, it will be impossible for most households to realize this idea, said energy expert Gennadiy Ryabtsev in a comment to UNIAN.

He explained that in order to prohibit turning off the lights in houses with electric heating, it is necessary to amend the by-laws. The expert made it clear that it will not be quick due to bureaucratic red tape.

“Within ten days, a decision (on the ban on turning off the lights in houses with electric heating, – UNIAN) can be prepared. Next, there will be a technological procedure, because the decision itself will require changes to the by-laws, changes to the same lists (of protected consumers, – UNIAN)… I have great doubts that it will be possible to do this before the end of the heating season,” the expert noted.

The expert cites the work on a new methodology for determining protected consumers as an example of such a delay.

“The methodology for determining protected consumers has not yet been developed, and the corresponding list has not yet been revised, although the Cabinet of Ministers gave the Ministry of Energy the corresponding task the year before last, and the president raised this issue 2.5 years ago,” Ryabtsev stated.

At the same time, the expert admits that individual houses with electric heating that are freezing may be prohibited from turning off the lights. But it will not be massive.

“Although in such a case, a temporary and urgent solution is the installation of a generator,” Ryabtsev noted.

After overcoming the bureaucratic red tape, residents of buildings with electric heating will have to be patient and wait for the technical formalization of this decision. According to the expert, this cannot be done in 3 or 10 days.

The situation in the energy system of Ukraine: it is worth knowingOn January 15, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a number of decisions, which, according to Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko, should stabilize the situation in the energy system. In particular, an increase in electricity imports was announced.

The decisions were made after the deterioration of the situation in the power system due to shelling. Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, said that Kyiv is currently experiencing the most difficult energy situation since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

On January 16, during the hour of questions to the government, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said that the lights will not be turned off in houses with electric heating.
