The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft law on increasing the payment of one-time cash assistance to the families of fallen civilians.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
Thus, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, a payment of UAH 1.9 million was provided for the families of the dead Ukrainian civilians who defended Ukraine.
“We propose to increase it to UAH 15 million, and we believe that this is right and fair. This will help support the families of those who died while protecting our state and the future,” he said.
According to the document, payment to the families of civilians who died from February 24 to March 25, 2022 while participating in the defense of Ukraine together with military formations is foreseen.
In addition, the grounds for granting the status of a family member of a deceased (deceased) defender of Ukraine have been specified.
Those who have already received partial compensation will be paid the difference up to the full amount of UAH 15 million.
This decision is aimed at ensuring the Government has approved an increase in payments to the families of the fallen defenders among civilians, he added.
The relevant bill has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.
