According to the Minister of Finance, the budget project for 2026 provides for a sufficient resource for the security and defense sector.

According to him, the funds of international partners would allow stable financing of the security and defense sector in the medium term.
“We are actively convincing partners to direct some of their expenditures for the needs of the defense sector,” the minister said.
According to him, this decision may be part of Ukraine’s security guarantees after completing the active phase of the conflict.
“We are talking about the completion of the active phase of the conflict – how many cans are needed … We collected materials, we have calculations and amounts. Ready to discuss this need with profile ministries. It is an understanding that it may be part of a security package, because one of the components is a Ukrainian army that is capable of protecting itself.”
According to him, in the near future it will be possible to talk about specific decisions on this issue.
At the same time, the minister evaded the deputies’ questions about increasing the salaries of servicemen next year. He noted that the budget project for 2026 provides for a sufficient resource for the security and defense sector, and the amount of cash should be determined by the relevant bodies of the security sector.
“These expenditures make up the dominant part of the safety and defense sector expenditures. Models of optimization of this resource are actively developing to direct it to those categories of servicemen who need it,” the Minister of Finance said.
Military salaries and international assistanceInternational assistance has been aimed at non -military expenditures since the beginning of a full -scale invasion. However, talking about the possible partial financing of the Ukrainian army is not the first month. In May, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko suggested that Europe direct part of the GDP for financing the Armed Forces.
In July, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his intention to appeal to European allies calling for help to finance the raising of salaries to the Ukrainian military.
