The government has established a new amount of payments in case of death or injury of a serviceman

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a new Procedure for the appointment and payment of one-time cash benefits in case of death (death) or disability of certain categories of persons in accordance with the law “On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection”.

This is stated in the draft budget for resolution No. 1090 of September 24, 2024.

The order determines the mechanism for assigning and paying aid to participants in the anti-terrorist operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and repelling the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

One-time cash assistance is assigned and paid:

1) in case of death (death) or recognition of persons as missing, – from the date of death specified in the death certificate, or from the date of entry into force of the court decision on recognition of the person as missing;

2) in case of establishment of disability, – from the date specified in the certificate of the medical and social expert commission.

One-time cash assistance in case of death is assigned and paid to family members of the deceased defender of Ukraine in the amount of 750 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons on January 1 of the calendar year in which the person died. Now the living wage is 3,028 hryvnias. That is, the payment is 22 million 710 thousand hryvnias.

One-time cash assistance in case of disability due to injury, contusion, mutilation or disease is assigned and paid to persons with disability due to war, depending on the disability group in the following amounts:

  • 400 subsistence minimums, for able-bodied persons, – in case of establishment of disability of the I group (12 million 112 thousand hryvnias);
  • 300 subsistence minimums, – in case of establishment of disability of the II group (9 million 84 thousand hryvnias);
  • 250 subsistence minimum, – in case of establishment of disability of the III group (7 million 570 thousand hryvnias).

For the appointment and payment of one-time cash assistance, the applicant submits an application to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. The application can be submitted: in paper form; in electronic form by means of the Unified state web portal of electronic services in case of technical possibility (Portal Diya) or by means of the Unified state register of war veterans.

Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed payments to the families of the fallen soldiers from the reserve fund – this was announced by the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, on May 7.
