More than 2.6 billion hryvnias, provided by the European Commission, were allocated to provide food for children in schools.
This was announced by the head of the government, Denys Shmyhal.
He noted that this will allow providing free hot meals for primary school children in secondary education institutions, taking into account their needs. The initiative is implemented within the framework of the “Winter Support” program for Ukrainians.
“Next year, we plan to expand it to all schoolchildren,” Shmyhal added.
Since October of this year, elementary school students throughout Ukraine have been eating for free. 2 billion hryvnias were allocated for this. Subsequently, another 268 million hryvnias were redirected to this.
And for the next year, the state budget provided 2.9 billion UAH for feeding schoolchildren and another 960 million UAH for the modernization of food blocks.
We will remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers approved a plan of measures to reform the school food system.
The reform of the school food system involves significant changes in the menu for students. In particular, there will no longer be such dishes as sausages in school canteens, but more healthy food will appear.
