The government diverted more than UAH 268 million for free meals for primary school students

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine redirected more than UAH 268 million to provide free hot meals for elementary school students.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, reports UNN.

More than 268 million hryvnias were redirected to provide free hot meals for elementary school students. Earlier, 2 billion hryvnias were directed to the places. For the next year, the state budget provided 2.9 billion UAH for feeding schoolchildren and another 960 million UAH for the modernization of food blocks

Shmyhal said that in order to fulfill the task of providing free meals, students of all grades will seek opportunities and resources in the government.

The representative of the government in the parliament, Taras Melnychuk, noted in Telegram that in 2024, the amount of subventions from the state budget to local budgets for providing food for elementary school students was redistributed.

In addition, the Prime Minister announced that the government is improving the payment mechanism of the eMalyatko program as part of the “Winter Support”.

According to him, in 2024, about 36,000 families have already received baby boxes, and for 126,000 families, the state has calculated the cost of the “baby package” in the amount of UAH 974 million.

The Deputy Chairman of the KMDA Valentyn Mondryivskyi reported that due to a malfunction in the procedure of using funds for meals of grades 1-4 in schools, financial difficulties arose between local and state budgets, which are currently being resolved.
