Drobovych previously announced that his term in this position will end in December and that he will not extend it. According to him, he will focus on the investigation of crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian cultural heritage during the war.
In April, after 25 months of service, Drobovych resigned from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Anton Drobovych headed the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance after winning the competition in early December 2019. Before him, the position of the head of the National Union of People’s Republic of Ukraine was held by the current People’s Deputy from the “European Solidarity” faction, Volodymyr V’yatrovych.
