“Despite the efforts of the Americans, Europeans and Ukrainians to achieve a ceasefire, there are no signals coming from Moscow that Putin is interested in ending the war,” he added.
At the same time, the minister highly praised the negotiations in Berlin on December 15-16 regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.
“Chancellor Mertz made it clear that the Europeans have the right to vote in the negotiations on the future of Ukraine. The European partners aligned their positions in Berlin with the positions of the US and Ukraine. This was also important,” Pistorius said.
“And the interest-free loan of EUR 90 billion, which was decided at the EU summit in Brussels, will help Ukraine cover its military needs for the next two years,” he added.
