Details: The Federal Fiscal Court (BFH) has so far not authorized the confiscation of the vessel and its cargo, due to “reasonable doubts” that such measures have sufficient legal grounds.

There is also no certainty whether this vessel can enter the EU territory in case of an emergency.
Eventin, with 100,000 tons of oil, has been standing near the German Rügen in the Baltic Sea for almost a year, where it was towed after the tanker became unmanageable due to a malfunction. The ship was headed from the ports of the Russian Federation near St. Petersburg to India, and regularly made such flights before.
There are concerns that the emergency tanker is a “floating environmental bomb” and the oil must be pumped out as soon as possible.
The formal owner of “Eventin”, Laliya Shipping Corp. from the Marshall Islands, is suing the EU regarding the inclusion of the tanker in the “shadow fleet”.
At the end of March, Germany replaced the crew with the Eventin and took control of the vessel, including its cargo.
