The General Staff reported 121 clashes at the front during the day

The situation at the front remains difficult, 121 combat clashes have been recorded over the past 22 hours, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the morning briefing on January 22.

Most of the fighting took place in the Pokrovsky direction.

“In the Pokrovsky direction, our defenders stopped 61 assault actions of the aggressor towards the settlements of Vodiane Druge, Zelene Pole, Elizavetivka, Grishine, Novosergiivka, Ppetropavlivka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Myrnograd, Novy Trud, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Uspenivka, Slovyanka, Sribne, Shevchenko, Andriivka, Ulakly, Yantarne, Dachne”, – the message says.

In addition, according to the General Staff, the Ukrainian military repelled Russian attacks in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Siver, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Novopavliv, Orihiv, Dnieper directions and in Kurshchyna.

On January 19, in an interview with TSN Tyzhden, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Defense Forces are doing everything to prevent Pokrovsk from being captured by the Russian army. In the meantime, as Viktor Tregubov, the spokesman of the Khortytsya Armed Forces, stated on Radio Svoboda, Russian troops are bypassing Pokrovsk in Donetsk region from the west, trying to encircle it.

The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.
