Russia has lost about 967 060 soldiers in Ukraine during a full -scale invasion of Ukraine, including 1170 people – in the last day – such data as of the morning of May 12, the Ukrainian General Staff cites.

As for other losses of the Russian Federation, the Armed Forces commanded the following:

  • Tanks – 10800 (+8 – in the last day)
  • Battle armored vehicles – 22473 (+27)
  • Artillery systems – 27718 (+48)
  • RSZV – 1381
  • air defense facilities – 1162 (+3)
  • Planes – 372
  • Helicopters – 335
  • UAV Operative-tactical level-35678 (+141)
  • Winged rockets – 3197
  • ships /boats – 28
  • submarines – 1
  • Automobile equipment and tanker trucks – 48118 (+171)
  • Special equipment – 3884 (+6).

Russia does not officially disclose its losses. Moscow last called the number of killed in September 2022 – then declared 5937 dead. On March 5, intelligence of the United Kingdom said that, since the beginning of 2025, Russia probably lost about 90,000 soldiers killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine.

Kyiv also did not voice losses for a long time, stating that the data would be disclosed after the war. At the same time, on February 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with NBC News that since February 2022, Ukraine lost more than 46,000 soldiers and about 380,000 in the war.
