The General Staff announced the active assault actions of the Russian troops on the southeastern outskirts of Kurakhovo

Russian troops, seeking to capture Kurakhove in Donetsk region, are conducting active assault operations on the southeastern outskirts of the city and at the same time are trying to capture a road junction and a block of multi-apartment buildings in its southern part, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on the evening of December 15.

“For this purpose, as well as for the purpose of seizing important administrative and industrial facilities and structures located in the central part of the city, [противник] tries to infiltrate sabotage and intelligence groups. There have been recorded cases of the use of the DRG under the guise of civilians. In order to prevent such actions of the enemy, the Defense Forces conduct counter-sabotage measures. All necessary decisions are made by the command, taking into account the complexity of the situation,” the message reads.

The General Staff noted that the Kurakhiv direction remains one of the hottest on the front, and that Russia, along with the advance of its troops on the ground, “actively implements special operations in the information space.”

“Yes, the enemy is spreading distorted information about the situation in the city to support the implementation of the tasks of the Kurakhiv operation. Therefore, observe information hygiene and trust official sources,” the command noted.

In an evening address on December 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced that he had listened to the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and called the situation in the Pokrovsky direction and with Kurakhov “difficult”.

According to the Deep State project, Russia has increased pressure in the north of Kurakhovo since about November 27. The activity of the aggressor in the Kurakhiv direction has a purpose, said the spokesman of the operational-strategic group of troops “Khortytsia” Nazar Voloshyn: “For the enemy in this direction, it is important to align the defense line, because this will first of all give them the opportunity to regroup – to withdraw some units for recovery. And then concentrate them for a further offensive on this part of the front, as well as on the Pokrovsky direction.”
