The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported the suspicion to the former chairman of the board of the commercial bank and the former head of the private enterprise, which, during the war, seized the bank’s funds.

In July 2022, the businessman applied to the bank for a loan in the amount of UAH 20 million for the purchase of fabric from foreign suppliers.
However, the chairman of the board of the bank, acting in collusion with a businessman and other officials, issued a loan without any reason, and the money was transferred to the accounts of non-resident companies, after which they were prepared abroad, and the fabric never arrived in Ukraine.
This bank, Sich, was declared insolvent in October 2022. According to the results of the actions, damages were caused in the amount of UAH 21.9 million. The state, through the Deposit Guarantee Fund, will return more than UAH 1.2 billion of funds of individuals who kept them in bank accounts.
Both persons involved were informed of the suspicion of embezzlement of someone else’s property in particularly large amounts, according to a prior conspiracy by a group of persons, in the conditions of martial law. The investigation is ongoing, and the question of preventive measures for the suspects is being decided.
