The Foreign Ministry after Fitzo’s statements: “poisoned by Russian propaganda”

“Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, against the background of falling trust among Slovak society and protests against his pro-Russian course resorted to the search for enemies and found them … in Ukraine””, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the “regular absurd statements” of the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo is an attempt to transfer responsibility for his own failures in domestic policy to foreign states and leaders.

“Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, against the background of a fall in trust among Slovak society and protests against his pro-Russian course, resorted to the search for enemies and found them … in Ukraine … We advise you to look not abroad, but in the mirror. The Ukrainian side has repeatedly warned the danger of pro -Russian policy of the leadership of Slovakia. The result is obvious: Robert Fitzo and individual parliamentary figures of Slovakia were poisoned by Russian propaganda, ceased to distinguish between black and white, and now began to call the leaders of neighboring friendly democracies “enemies”, – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said in a statement of Ukraine.

Earlier on that day, the Slovak Prime Minister once again spoke for the continuation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine and named President Vladimir Zelensky’s words about the possible transit of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe with a cover maneuver, threatening to veto Ukraine from the European Union. Fitzo also called President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky a “enemy”, which harms Slovakia.

Zelensky in response stressed that Russian gas should be paid “not only money, but also independence and sovereignty.”

“Many in Europe have already passed and have chosen their independence and sovereignty. But not Mr Fitzo. He chooses Moscow instead of America and other partners that can provide his country with gas on commercial conditions. It’s his mistake. Everyone in Europe needs to be visionary and develop relationships that strengthen our peoples, ”Zelensky added.

At 7 am on January 1, Ukraine “in the interests of national security” stopped the transportation of Russian natural gas in its territory.

The main European importers of Russian gas, Slovakia and Austria have already provided alternative supply routes, although Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo has declared “dramatic consequences” for the entire EU, demanding to restore the transit. The Slovak Prime Minister did not exclude measures in response.

Mass demonstrations against the pro -Russian policy of Prime Minister Robert Fitzo have taken place in more than 20 cities of Slovakia.

Fitzo stated that an organized group of persons who receive funding from abroad and is connected with the Slovak opposition plans a “coup”.

The opposition demands the resignation of the Fitzo Government, including because of his trip to Moscow to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in December 2024. Slovak Prime Minister conflicts with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, exchanging sharp statements with him.
