According to Bodnar, on January 10, the next volunteers will sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and go to the training ground in Poland.

“This is actually a success story, from which some politicians or Russian propaganda are trying to make a negative fact. The process, of course, we would like it to go faster, but it is going as it goes. We are working to make this information publicly available to everyone EU countries, and possibly overseas,” he said.

He emphasized that it is possible to stimulate only by voluntary encouragement, because this is a completely voluntary unit.

The ambassador does not name the number of volunteers.

Prehistory:

  • It was reported that more than 500 applications from 30 countries were submitted to the Ukrainian Legion in Poland as of the beginning of November.
  • On October 2, the head of the Polish Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosyniak-Kamysh, said that the number of Ukrainians who volunteered for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland turned out to be extremely small.
  • At the end of the month, the temporary representative of Poland in Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz, said that the country is ready to train Ukrainian recruits, but first Ukraine must gather enough people.
