The first stage of the launch of the Unified State Register of Pets is starting in Ukraine

“The single state register of domestic animals is an increase in safety and the formation of a responsible attitude towards keeping animals in Ukraine. For the first time in the history of independence, the state will receive real data on the number of domestic animals and will be able to monitor their vaccination status. Such information is extremely relevant for effectively reducing the risk of spreading dangerous infections , such as rabies,” stressed Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Denys Bashlyk.

The register will be implemented in two stages. At the first stage, which has already started, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy will focus on involving veterinary clinics and doctors in working with the platform. A series of educational webinars are planned for public and private veterinarians, and technical support for veterinarians will be available by phone and chat during November and December, where veterinarians can receive authorization advice.

State and private veterinary institutions can be authorized in the Unified Register of Pets by submitting an application to the State Production and Consumer Service.

After successful authorization, the veterinary facility will be ready to start pet registration along with the official start of the second phase of the Registry’s launch — the animal registration campaign, which will be announced later.

It is noted that the advantages of the Register for animal owners will be the trouble-free restoration of lost documents and data about a registered animal from the Register, an easier search for registered animals that are lost, and next year, after the appearance of a veterinary passport in Diya, the simplification of traveling with animals in Ukraine.

The launch of the Unified State Register of Pets is also an important step in harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with European animal welfare requirements.

As reported, the Unified State Register of Pets is a state register on the Diya.Engine platform, where data about cats, dogs and ferrets will be stored: the name and description of the animal, information about vaccination and biosterilization, contacts of owners or keepers, and other essential health information. Thanks to the state register, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the State Production and Consumer Service will collect and analyze up-to-date data on the number of pets, their health and vaccinations.
