Kyiv is returning to the glory of the world center of the avant-garde. The creation of the first Avant-Garde Museum in Ukraine is a necessary step in the cultural, historical and political sense. Russia expected that we would not withstand the pressure of its missile attacks, but despite this, we find the strength to show our art to the world. We have something to be proud of! In the conditions of a full-scale war, this museum will become not only a center of cultural memory, but also a source of national pride, ideological inspiration and artistic development. Currently, the museum exhibits more than 50 works donated by collectors and artists. This collection demonstrates the entire path of development of the Ukrainian avant-garde, starting from the period of the classical avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century and up to today – from Anatoly Petrytskyi, Vadym Meller, Oleksandr Bogomazov to contemporaries Oleg Tistol, Maryna Skugareva, Viktor Sydorenko, Hlib Vysheslavskyi, Oleksandr Zhivotkov.
The Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv is the capital’s largest museum association. It includes the Museum and Exhibition Center, the Historical and Memorial Museum of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, the Literary and Memorial Museum of Mykhailo Bulgakov, the Manor House on Kudryavka Museum, the Museum of the Occupation of Kyiv, the Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora, the Sholom Aleichem Museum, the Sixties Museum, and the Serzh Lyfar Museum. The Museum of the Avant-Garde will become the tenth branch of the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv.
