According to The New York Post’s sources, two people engaged in a shootout near the Trump West Palm Beach golf course. According to sources, they were aiming at each other, and the shooting was not aimed at Trump.
Sources said Trump was not in danger and that the shooting happened outside the club, which is known for high crime.
Updated: The FBI said Sunday it is responding to events in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is “investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination” of former President Donald Trump.
The suspect was arrested by local police after shots were fired at Trump’s golf course.
The man taken into custody after the shooting was “relatively calm” during his arrest, Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder said Sunday.
“He didn’t show much emotion. He didn’t ask, ‘What’s the matter?'” the sheriff said.
The sheriff noted that the suspect was not armed when officers pulled him from the car.
He added that the FBI will take over the investigation along with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the US Secret Service.

The suspect in the attempted assassination was taken into custody. According to three law enforcement sources, the detainee is Ryan Wesley Routh.
The man left the rifle and things in the bushes: the law enforcement officers found an AK-47 type rifle with an optical sight; two backpacks that were hanging on the fence and that contained ceramic tiles; and a GoPro camera that the suspect was carrying in the bushes.
