Borys Groysman, a longtime member of the city council and father of the former mayor of Vinnytsia and ex-prime minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, passed away at the age of 78.
Boris Groysman was born on August 22, 1946 in Vinnytsia in the family of the fifth generation of native Vinnytsia residents. He started working in 1962 as a turner at the Vinnytsia Aggregate Plant. After serving in the army, he got an education at the technical school of electro-vacuum instrument construction, receiving the specialty of technologist of electro-vacuum production.
During his career, he held various positions at Vinnytsia enterprises. In 1990, he headed the Shkolyar cooperative, and since 1994 he managed the private enterprise Yunist, which he founded, where he worked as the general director until his last days.
From 2002 to 2020, Boris Groysman was elected as a deputy of the Vinnytsia City Council for several convocations:
- in 2002–2006 he represented District No. 30;
- in 2010–2015, he was a deputy of the 6th convocation in District No. 13;
- in 2015–2020, he was a member of the deputies of the 7th convocation.
