Formula 1 punished the pilot of the Williams team, Carlos Sainz, with a penalty of five positions based on the results of qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix (October 24-26).
The Spanish driver was penalized for his actions in the US race when Sainz made a mistake and sent Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli off the track.
The Italian managed to continue the race and finished 13th, but his car was damaged. Sains left the distance.
This season, Carlos scored 38 points and is in 11th position in the overall standings.
