Great Britain “will not act alone” The European Parliament demands that the EU countries remove the current restrictions that prevent Ukraine from using Western weapons against legitimate military targets in Russia. This is stated in the resolution adopted on September 19.

425 deputies voted “for”, 131 – “against”, 63 – “abstained”.

The statement notes that without lifting the current restrictions, Ukraine cannot fully exercise its right to self-defense and remains vulnerable to attacks on its population and infrastructure.

MEPs emphasize that insufficient supplies of ammunition and restrictions on their use can nullify the impact of the efforts made, and express regret over the decrease in bilateral military aid to Ukraine from the EU countries.

The other day, The Times wrote that Great Britain “will not act on its own” in the matter of granting Ukraine permission to strike targets in Russia with long-range weapons.

The British government believes that American guidance systems are crucial to hitting targets with long-range missiles. London believes the US is likely to authorize the strikes at the UN General Assembly session, which opens on September 10, although President Joe Biden’s administration is divided on this.

On September 16, the spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, in response to the journalists’ question whether the decision to strike long-range American weapons against targets in Russia had been made, replied that he had “no announcements” about changes in the White House’s policy on this issue.

Before that, after the joint visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his British colleague David Lammy to Kyiv, The Guardian newspaper, citing sources, wrote that Great Britain allowed Ukraine to use Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strike targets on Russian territory. However, no public announcements were made either during the visit or after it.
